About me and therapy

Welcome to my page. My name is Max Parfeniuk. I am a gestalt-therapist with IT background. I am an enthusiast of psychotherapy as a process of self-knowledge and improving the quality of life. I succeed in synthesizing a holistic approach based on bodily signals, emotions and awareness (gestalt) with experience in IT. I am sincere and passionate about what I do, and I have a desire to share the knowledge and experience I have gained throughout the life.
P2P therapy as a living dialogue
I borrowed the term P2P (peer-to-peer) from IT realm to show that in gestalt psychotherapist is not a shaman or a guru who will lecture you on how to live, but an equal guide in exploring your life. Yes, I may have a bit more expertise and experience in therapy, and I can highlight parts of mental processes that you might not notice, but equality here lies in a deep-seated mindset based on respect for personal autonomy and choices. Gestalt is not a therapy of "protocols", "exercises", "interpretations", or "rationalizations" (though all of these may be present to some extent) - it is a therapy of the relationship that unfolds here and now. It is a living, courageous approach for people who are not afraid to move toward their true selves and meet life as it is.
Nourishment, stabilization, return, transformation
In the modern rat race, there is a lack of time and space to stop, slow down, look around, reflect on where I actually am, and understand what is happening. Therapy is precisely this organized and safe space where you can slow down, be yourself, and experience being truly seen and heard. There is room here for "fragile" or complex states: grief, sadness, shame, love, tenderness, warmth, vulnerability, fear, disgust, anger... Transformation happens here not by pushing yourself toward a "correct" self, but by returning to your true self (the paradoxical theory of change). As you step closer to your true self, you’ll begin to feel the full depth and richness of life. It’s not an easy journey, but it is a deeply healing one.
Here is a glimpse that gives a brief understanding of what gestalt therapy is and how it differs from "IT bug fixing" and behavioral approaches.
If you feel ready and this approach resonates with you, see you in therapy!
